TwoSun Tuesday: TS348-C Pikal Josh Woytko Design in Ti & Micarta with 4.11" D2 Blade
Published: 1 year ago
This is definitely a Pikal knife. That’s a Philippine martial arts and self defense weapon that means “to rip”. As I’m not versed in many martial arts, least of which these, I can’t speak to how good or not this is at the task.
The knife itself is built fantastically. The blade locks open at 270 degrees rather than virtually all other folders that locks open at 180. The recurve is brutal and can certainly “rip” with the best of 'em.
It’s very comfortable in a reverse grip and can be easily used for other recurve or sickle tasks like botany and the like, but it might be large for your standard flower and grafting tasks, unless your dealing with old-growth trees or the like.
It’s an impressive specimen for sure, but EDC was NOT it’s intended feature set, so unless you want/need something like it, it’s probably not for you.
Specs:
4.11" (104.5 mm) D2 blade with 3.85 mm stock thickness
7.27 oz / 206 gram weight
0.58" (14.8 mm) handle thickness (Ti & Micarta)
Frame Lock
Ceramic bearings & detent ball
