TwoSun Tuesday: TS214 Jelly-Jerry Design in Titanium & G10 with 3.66" 14C28N Blade
Published: 1 year ago
We got a new one this week… and it’s a weird one.
As I feel I might have been dancing around it in the review, this doesn’t work incredibly well with my hands. It might work better for smaller hands, but the jimping on the spine might go to waste in that case; not sure.
The blade is pretty crazy, having a relatively standard flat grind out toward the tip, and an excruciatingly thin hollow grind further back. It’s not quite as thin as a straight razor, but it’s honestly not far off. I was pushing it fairly hard when using it, but I’d probably refrain from wood carving, especially around knots with the hollow grind area. It’s slicey as all get-out though.
The construction is also quite a bit different. It doesn’t utilize chicago screws for construction, screwing into threaded titanium instead. The threads don’t feel brittle on the screws or titanium, so I doubt that’ll be a concern down the road.
You can get it with anodized or normal titanium, but the only G10 color is Yellow. It’s kind of an intense yellow, but if you’re looking for a darker color, I’m sure fabric dyes can help there, just keep in mind that you’re not dealing with neutral white when selecting the dye color.
Specs:
3.66" (92.9 mm) 14C28N blade with 3.6 mm stock thickness
4.91 oz / 139 gram weight
0.67" (17 mm) handle thickness (Ti & G10)
Sub-Frame Lock
Ceramic bearings & detent ball
