TwoSun Tuesday: TS403-C Wong Design in Titanium with 3.22" D2 Blade
Published: 1 year ago
Funky knife. Very much a sheepsfoot blade, but this seems to have some design flaws that doesn’t find itself into Wong designs often. It has the smallest inkling of a sharpening choil, but the plunge grind is so gradual that it’s less than useless, for example.
The thumbstuds also cover a lot of the blade path. To the point that, because it has flipper tabs, I’d probably remove the thumbstuds altogether to avoid that problem.
The rest of it is alright. Detent strength is fine for all deployment methods. It’s a liner lock due to how it’s constructed (which is similar to the TS143). A hubcap of a pivot collar is present. I don’t mind it, but with it’s high polish, it’ll probably show some wear before the rest of the titanium pieces.
Overall, it’s neat, but nowhere near my ideal sheepsfoot.
Specs:
3.22" (81.7 mm) D2 blade with 3.8 mm stock thickness
5.15 oz / 146 gram weight
0.57" (14.6 mm) handle thickness (Ti)
Liner Lock
Ceramic bearings & detent ball
