TwoSun Tuesday: TS375 NightMorning Design in Ti & Micarta with 3." D2 Blade (Crossbar Lock)

Published: 1 year ago

This is an alright first attempt at a crossbar lock… one that most companies wouldn’t let out through the door, but that’s what you get without a prototype phase of development.

What I mean by that is that there is some vertical play in the blade when it’s deployed. Doing some spine whacking and other pressure tests prove it’s in no danger of disengaging, but the top section where the crossbar intersects with the blade tang has some tolerance issues. It’s not uncommon on a company’s first attempt at the lock, but they’re usually ironed out before they make it to production.

The blade itself is nice enough. I don’t think the bladestock needed to be so thick, but that’s TwoSun’s MO at this point. The geometry is still nice with a full flat grind, and it’s easily deployed by centrifugal force or thumb studs.

It feels crazy stout in build. Like a brick house. Something that I don’t feel from many Benchmade knives today. Maybe the OG Precidio with the aluminum scales? Definitely more than the G10 or injection molded models.
