TwoSun Tuesday: TS289 Wong Design in Ti with 3.57" D2 Blade (Fancy Lockback)

Published: 1 year ago

Alright, so this review seems like it starts out optimistic and slowly deteriorates. That wasn’t my intention and only noticed it when doing the rudimentary editing of it. My sour attitude toward this blade developed long before I cut my finger during the reassembly.

Let me be clear. This is a funky and restricting implementation of a lockback. The handle is fairly comfortable, like a funky hybrid of the Buck 110 and the 110FG finger groove models. The blade isn’t bad at all, but I don’t feel like the slight recurve was necessary. That and it’s got a Platinum Dumpy on it, being just over 6 ounces.

However the fit and finish for the handle materials was less than stellar, the action was horrendous until I fixed it, and reassembling a lockback with protruding handle accoutrements is fiddly.

I think this is going to be one of those morbid curiosities of TwoSun and Wong’s legacy. It ain’t gonna be popular, but it sure is “different”
