TwoSun Tuesday: TS409 Keanu Alfaro Design in Titanium with 3.87" D2 Blade
Published: 1 year ago
Giddy up 409.
Yeah, long story short on this thing, in my opinion, it’s an inferior version of the TS358 released earlier in the year.
The handle is very neutral and includes a minimalist mill pattern on both sides that extends to the top and bottom of the scales. I assume these were done to add texture to the handle, but what results is a lot of small hot spots and not much actual grip was added.
The jimping on the blade was done great, but the handle flares out, so you have a hump that your thumb sits on alongside the blade that just doesn’t work well for me.
It uses Keanu’s pocket clip which is nice for the most part. Very deep carry, and can be used on the “show side” as well. It’s titanium, but it is a stamped and folded clip, not milled. It’s not nearly as strong as their milled clips, and I did bend the one on my TS358 relatively easily.
This knife has the worst “Snaggletooth” or blade peeking that I’ve experienced in a long time from TwoSun, and it seems like more and more models are being made this way rather than it getting resolved! It’s maddening. I fixed it on mine, but removed the belly and made it straight in the process. I had to take off close to 3 mm of blade height before I couldn’t interface with the blade when it was closed. There seems to be a couple new crossbar lock models released that also have this problem. If they want to keep doing this, they need to have full length back spacers. Period.
TwoSun: Git ur Shiet together!
Specs:
3.87" (98.2 mm) D2 blade with 3.8 mm stock thickness
5.82 oz / 165 gram weight
0.62" (15.8 mm) handle thickness (Ti)
Button Lock
Ceramic bearings
