The A.G. Russell Sandbox Bowie. Designed by a legend
Published: 2 years ago
The A.G. Russell Sandbox Bowie, one of three knives in the Sandbox series. A modern classic this dark black clip point has lashing point to mount it as a spear and the contoured, textured handle has a hollow in it store small survival essentials.
In researching this blade I found that A.G. Russell was known as “Mr. Knife and that he was instrumental in laying the foundations to the industry we all know and love today. Born in a small Arkansas town he learned knife making from his great grandfather. He took to a passion for designing knives and nothing was safe from his sketching. His father joined the Army in WW2 and went to Bataan becoming a Japanese POW.
After traveling the US his family settled near San Francisco but his travels would lead him to other places, a stint in the US Army and finally leading him back to Arkansas. Now I could go into great length to this mans journey but I am going to give you a link to a wonderful tribute video below. Plese watch it and learn how A.G. became known as Mr. Knife.
In closing, I’ve talked to Mr. Philip Gibbs Product Development manager at A.G. Russell Knives and was told that although Mr. KNife was no longer amongst us that he had left a thick porfolio full of knife designs so that we can continue to enjoy his passion well into the future.
Thank you fo ryour time, enjoy the video. Like, share, comment & subscribe and Have A Knife Day.
