Finding a place for Marine Corps Master Sergeant C.G. Liebelt’s Shadow box

Published: 2 years ago

It’s an unpleasnat topic, we all pass away one day but for veterans we can leave behind relics of our military service. This is what a “shadow box” is and can be either be purchased at stores to assembled by the veteran or their family or can be sent off to a place to be professionally done. Charles made his own and it hung in his office, staying on the wall at his home until the passing of his wife. So, where does the shadow box go? Hopefully, it is passed on to family members but what happens if your kids don’t have kids and they dont have a place for it then this could meet a sad end and its stories will disappear with it.
I called my local chapter of the Marine Corps League and on that very same day they were returning from a decommisioned Air base called “El Toro” where a museum will fill a blimp hangar. I showed the two Marines the shadow box and they loved it. Now this will have the opportunity to be on display for generations to come and Master Sergeant Liebelt will not fade away.
