It's time to make it seax-y with a handmade Seax by Dylan McCoun
Published: 1 year ago
I have primarily been purchasing handmade knives from the McCoun family and Mark "father" McCoun. This time I wanted something particular, something that I have been talking to my brother for some time and that is a Seax. We have been look at blade angels etc. and this is what I chose. This is a tapered tang, with the steels for the Damascus being 15n20 and 1095 with 10 twists for the pattern. The blade has been etched in ferric chloride for 10 minutes and then in coffee for 10 hours. The guard was made with mild steel. Finally, the handle is Curly maple for the handle, dyed and sealed with lacquer.
