commercial firesteel vs chinese firesteel
Published: 11 years ago
This is a comparison between a comercial firesteel ($20) vs a chinese firesteel ($3,20).
I only had to make a handle for the chinese version (which is fun to do).
With handle and scraper they cost around $5,50.
I actually prefer the chinese ones. They do wear a bit faster but a commercial one will not outlast 2 cheap ones.
The chinese version reaches the same temperatures.
The Sparks seem last longer as well (you scrape more metal) which makes it more easy to light kindle.
I'm not buying LMF again :).
Also I believe the LMF versions are made in china as well. they might me handled in Sweden but I think most ferrocerium rods come from China. But again I might be wrong!
let me know what you think and what your experiences are!
