Today I received one of the most special custom orders yet! My @koenigknives twins have arrived!
The Arius has been in the works for about a year. I knew I wanted a custom Arius after I handled one and made a final diagnosis (see that video on my YT channel). I had a complex build in mind, so Bill made me the Frunkarius with blades and parts he had readily available. In the meantime, he set to work to fulfill my Arius dreams.
This 1 of 1 Arius features a CTS-XHP blade done with hand rubbed hollow bevels and mirrored flats. I have loved the performance of the XHP on my green Arius and so this was a no brainer. 204p in my hands has been a bit...chippy.
Next came the opening. My favorite way to open any knife is the Spydie flick, and the Arius is no exception. The "tink" the knife makes when opened this way sends happy waves up my spine. So I knew I wanted a non-flipper. Bill has blessed me with the VERY FIRST FACTORY NON-FLIPPER ARIUS! He milled the flipper off on his CNC making the transitions smooth and perfectly aligned with the lines of the knife. Now I can choke up a bit like I've been wanting!
And then the handle, the piece du resistance. This features some spectacular Copper Shred CF from @composite_craft! I wanted to keep this knife all American, and buying from Ryan was easy as can be. He makes a great product and it was milled into the beautiful style 57 scale, designed by @kristagonsovna. The titanium lockside and hardware were than all given a bronze coloration to tie it all together!
The Mini Goblin is a collaboration with Edison Barajas @sharknivco based on his Goblin customs. Bill @billrkoenig told me about this knife many months ago and I was able to watch the knife develop and see Bill try new things.
The blade is a wharncliffe shape of M390 done with hand rubbed satin hollow primary bevels and mirrored flats. The action is crazy snappy and smooth in the new Koenig proprietary ball bearing pivot. The small flipper tab is just perfect for launching the tiny blade in a flash! The pivot has been heat anodized to a bronze color.
The handle on this knife is also very special to me. It features copper dust CF from my Russian friend @carbonplate. This is some of the most beautiful CF on Earth with chatoyance from the CF and the copper specks. Along with a milled lockside, this barely weighs over 3oz! He even internally milled the CF!
I couldn't be happier with the result. Bill, Krista, and the team at Koenig knives are some of the very best in the industry and deserve to be recognized for their quality, consistency, and commitment to their customers. Thank you all!
