Buck RealTree 30th Anniversary Tin Review. A Canoe 389 & Toothpick 385.
Published: 8 years ago
This Buck commemorative tin is a common sight in the Holiday season at the end of the year. This tin is a celebration of the 30th Anniversary of RealTree. In the tin we find a 389, a classic canoe shape slip joint knife with two blades and a 385 a small toothpick knife.
Generally BUCK makes good slip joint folding knifes, as they have been doing for many years. But, in this instance both of the knives that I found in this special tin had been poorly sharpened. Uneven final grind lines make it look unprofessional and the cutting quality is less than I have grown to expect from BUCK. Everything else about the knives is well made, the fit and finish of the wood and the bolsters is up to par and the BUCK branding plates are also well made.
These were on sale at Canadian Tire for $22.99:

I highly suspect that there won't be many in stock but you may find a Canadian Tire store that has them. Canadian Tire made sure to get only as many as they thought they could sell. These kits are specifically branded for sale at Canadian Tire stores.
