It will give your knives a mirror finish, but it does take a bit of work to get your knife to the stage where it will benefit from this compound when you get there, the results are incredible.

I polish my knife in stages, going from 320 grit and stepping up gradually to 1000 grit, and after that, I apply the KOYO blue compound.
