Iron Ethos Cyber Fixed Blade—Can It Survive the Test?

Today on BigRedEDC, we’re putting the Iron Ethos Cyber fixed blade through a full outdoor test to see how it compares with the Shadow Strike. The Cyber features a 14C28N gray titanium-coated blade, full-tang construction, aggressively milled black G10 handles, and a slim two-tone Kydex sheath with improved retention, a useful thumb ramp, and a low-profile belt clip. Measuring just under 9.5 inches overall and weighing 7.9 ounces—or 10.2 ounces with the sheath—this is a substantial fixed blade with a wicked blade profile and pronounced finger grooves.
For the performance test, I ran the Iron Ethos Cyber through a water bottle, natural-fiber rope, and 19 strikes against bamboo. It sliced completely through the water bottle and handled the bamboo without suffering any visible blade damage or deformation, but the factory edge repeatedly slid off the rope instead of biting into it. The edge simply didn’t feel toothy enough to grab the rope, making that portion of the test a little disappointing despite its stronger performance elsewhere.
