What are Barlows, Jack Knives, and a Boys Knife? Collection Overview and Comparisons GEC & Jack Wolf

Barlow and Boy's Knives are a style of jack knives. This comparison overview gives the broad definition of those pocket knives and takes you through several examples in my collection from GEC to Jack Wolf. Many of these knife styles have been around for hundreds of years, and many companies have long gone out of business. Jack knives were once thought of as large pocket knives, and boys knives and barlow patterns can often fall under the header jack knives. These patterns have lot of similarities that I have illustrated using a 100 years worth of modern folding blades with examples from such brands as: Imperial, Jack Wolf Knives, Great Eastern Cutlery, Lion Steel, A.W. Wadsworth, Keen Kutter, Richards Sheffield, Northwoods, Boker Tree Brand and more. You'll see modern classics and examples from those brands like the GEC 14, 15, 86, the madison barlow, the Urban Jack, the Little Bro Jack, the Beerlow, and the shuffler.
