Old-School cool! Classic Socom Delta
Published: 1 week ago
Socom Delta
The Microtech Socom Delta was a limited production, manual folding knife manufactured by Microtech around 2012 before being discontinued.
It was a next-generation version of the original Socom folder, and it won the 2012 American-Made Knife of the Year award from Blade Magazine.
The Delta line was eventually replaced by newer Socom variants, including the Socom Elite.
Development and release
The original Microtech Socom series was released in 1996, and over the years, the design was updated and refined.
The Microtech Socom Delta introduced significant changes, including the move to 3D-machined G-10 composite handles and a titanium frame lock, called the "Microex titanium sublock".
The Delta was a manual-action folder that featured a ceramic ball bearing pivot system, which gave the knife a fast and smooth opening action via dual thumb studs.
Different versions of the Socom Delta featured blade steels such as Elmax, S35VN, and ATS-34, which were common for Microtech at the time.
Discontinuation and legacy
The Socom Delta was produced in limited quantities before being discontinued, making it a sought-after collectible. Production runs varied, with some discontinued models dating to late 2012.
Microtech has since continued to innovate the Socom series with models such as the Socom Elite and the Socom Bravo.
