Orion Knives Cetus

Published: 1 year ago

Cetus: (See-Tus) sometimes known as the Whale, is one of the largest constellations in the sky. The name comes from the shape and look of the knife when in the open position rather than the size of the model. A curved spine provides a bit of an optical illusion as the cutting edge looks like a recurve. The edge is straight and easy to sharpen, while providing a downward tip for little to no knife angle when tackling the tape of your newly arrived shipment from your favorite retailers. The knife balance, right behind the lock bar relief cut out, provides a very neutral balance.

The Cetus has a 14C28N blade steel with a deep hollow grind. The lock is a frame lock, although I refer to it as a hybrid frame lock. Why may you ask? Frame locks have a benefit of engaging the lock while the knife is in use., with the downside that in general you need to be mindful of where your fingers are while opening the knife. This is not the case with the Cetus as your fingers have a full cover to rest on, and in use you can actively engage the lock in use.
