This Whitewolf Brend Automatic knife stands aside from the auto knife evolutionary tree as unique because no maker would ever again use the combination of a liner lock and a coil drive button release - it was never copied as makers from that point forward all copied the same button lock style done by Charlie Ochs and Co. on the Original Black Knife. No one would ever know just how slim a handle could be until the button knockouts started to appear 25 years later. In the latter the button shaft for the plunge lock auto button bulges out of the handle giving the mechanism enough distance to engage a solid release and safe lockout. This knife is less than 1/2" thick and opens like a rocket. In the closed and locked position the blade barely moves and the button is so flush to the handle you can barely tell it's there.
