My name is Bogusz Gielniak. I made my first knife when I was in my teens. They were not beautiful, but very precious to me - they sowed a seed that took many more years to germinate. Throughout my studies, the thought of doing something with my own hands did not leave me alone, until the breakthrough moment in the middle of my PhD in chemistry in Hamburg. Then I went to an international conference in Budapest, where I found a workshops on further career development. A question was then asked about what we want to achieve in 5 years. It turned out that what I really wanted to do, has little to do with a scientific career, and realizing it, was such a powerful experience, that I decided to give it up. I came back to Poland and since then my main goal was to make my dream of knifemaking a reality. Along the way, it was not without marshy areas, of which it was extremely difficult to work in a corporation, but they only strengthened me in the right direction.

I have been making knives full time since 2012. I specialize in custom, i.e. knives made to a specific customer order. Often these are unusual and unique knives, requiring an individual approach, drawing a detailed design, solving new problems and adding special tools. Often I get assignments that no one else wanted to undertake.

I try to make each next knife better than the previous one, I make them myself and according to the rule: if you want something to be done right, do it yourself. This especially applies to heat treatment, which I have always done myself, relying on scientific publications and, to be sure, doing my own research. I attach equal importance to the design of the knife, the selection of materials and the finish. I try to create knives of the highest possible quality, taking care of every detail, so that my products are not only beautiful but also fully functional.
