The Most Alaskan Knife Handle Material: Oosik Media
Published: 5 years ago
In this Rountable we sit down with Mike, Lori, Alister, Dakota and Kellen
We do an overview of one of the most Alaskan knives we make, The M.A.K., anointed with Oosik scales. For those not in the know Oosik is the penile bone of a walrus. Its actually quite dense and resilient which makes it one of the toughest natural handles we offer on any of our knives. It also has some cultural significance in many native Alaskan cultures. Join us as we go a little in-depth in what it takes to process bone and stabilize it for knife making.
