Forged, Not Cast: Making the New MTN MAN Toy Shop Tomahawk Media

We used to cast our tomahawks. Now we forge them by hand, one at a time, in-house at New West KnifeWorks.
In this video, custom knifemaker Jack Rellstab walks through how a bar of mild steel and a bar of 1095 high-carbon steel becomes a hand-forged tomahawk head — forge-welding the edge into place, drawing it out under the power hammer, and shaping, heat-treating, and sharpening it entirely by hand before it's hung on an Appalachian hickory handle. Founder Corey Milligan explains why the shop walked away from casting, and why automating the process wasn't the answer this time either.
