The Field Grade Recon is modeled after Doc Shiffer's custom Recon, which is one serious tactical folder. It's simplistic in its design and built in such a way that you know this knife means business. The blade is a utilitarian drop point shape, made from awesome N690 stainless steel with a strong stonewashed finish. There is jimping exactly where you need it on the thumbramp for a secure grip and your fingers are prevented from sliding forward onto the blade by the flipper tab which doubles as a guard. The action is fast and smooth with a perfect detent and an easy to manipulate frame lock. The handles are made from 0.15" thick Titanium slabs and are available in a variety of colors, as is the Titanium pocketclip. You can have your choice of a Titanium back spacer, which looks great, or a stand off, flow-through, design for easy cleaning. There's no structural advantage to either choice but the stand off model will save a quarter ounce for the weight conscious among us. This is a fantastic knife that is just begging to be used, keep an eye out for great things to come from Doc Shiffer.
