Welcome to Warehouse Hunts, everybody. This week we’re looking at several different multi-tools to help you stay prepared in any situation.
First up we’ve got the Leatherman Sidekick. This model consists of 15 tools in a surprisingly compact package. It’s the only multi-tool of the four to feature a pocket clip in addition to the accompanying sheath, which I really appreciate in terms of accessibility. Big fan of the mini liner-lock mechanism on the two blades. The other tools are nice, as well, though a bit tough to pick out accurately and require you to open the pliers in order to access them.
The Schrade Tough Tool is a great budget option at less than twenty bucks. It’s a bit larger than some other options, but it has good construction and feels quite ergonomic in hand. I also like how all of the tools are accessible from the same side, though a couple of them seem questionable in functionality.
The SOG PowerAssist multi-tool is unique in that it actually features two assisted opening blades. Both deploy from the same side with separate locking mechanisms to prevent unintended deployment. It’s definitely mean-looking, and should prove to be a durable product. Comes with a great leather sheath, too. One downside would be a fewer number of tools on this model.
Finally, we have the Victorinox SwissTool Spirit. I was very impressed by the build and design on this thing – my favorite part being the ability to access all the tools without having the open of the pliers, and the fingernail nicks really help you pick out the exact tool you’re looking for. The locking mechanism works equally well for all the tools and that universality is a very nice addition.
Overall, these are four great options at various price levels that you can look into if you’re in the market for a multi-tool. You can click the annotation or the link in the description to see more, and check back every week for a new episode of Warehouse Hunts.
