Spotlight Series: Kizer Cutlery Ki4468 Ray Laconico Intrepid Flipper Media

Published: 9 years ago

This week the spotlight falls on the new Intrepid flipper from Kizer Cutlery. See more about the Kizer Cutlery Intrepid: http://bit.ly/2tVcRwd

This knife was designed in collaboration with custom knifemaker Ray Laconico, based off his original Skinny Bear flipper.

Right off the bat this is an attractive knife, with a really slick matte silver finish on the handle and eye-popping blue anodized accents on the hardware. Deployment via the flipper is smooth and certain, there’s a really satisfying action to this knife. The hollow ground, drop point blade is just over 3.5" long, giving the Intrepid a lot of cutting power. The blade’s stonewash finish rounds out the gorgeous presentation with style.

Beyond the aesthetic appeal, this is a really well-built knife. Blade is held securely in place by a sturdy titanium framelock. There’s even a steel lockbar insert and overtravel prevention mechanism. The Intrepid is made from top-quality materials, with an S35VN stainless steel blade and a titanium handle. The handle has been carefully machined and contoured to make this one of the most comfortable knives I’ve held in a while. At over 4.5 " long, this handle has a great feel for those of us with larger hands.

This model features a blue anodized pocketclip, allowing for tip-up carry. It slides on easily and holds tightly, with the knife’s slim profile making for an extremely comfortable ride.

The Intrepid flipper is an absolutely gorgeous Ray Laconico design constructed to Kizer Cutlery’s high standard of quality. You can click the annotation or the link in the description to learn more about this knife, and don’t forget to check back every week for an all-new Spotlight Series.
