This week on Spotlight Series we’ve got some unique balisongs from Jason Brous, the B3. These are Brous Blades first ever balis and they do not disappoint. When talking about the B3, Jason wanted to keep traditional bali stylings for modern flipping, but add his own Brous flair.
Right off the bat you’ll notice that these balisongs feature flat handles with full jimping on both spines, as well as the blade. This makes for a great hold while flipping the knife open and closed. The jimping on the base of the blade is heavy enough for a solid hold, but doesn’t get in the way when flipping the knife around. The flat handles were initially a little odd to get used to, but after a few times opening and closing the knife I really appreciate how slim and sleek they are. This slim profile also means that they will carry very easily in the pocket compared to your Benchmade or BRS butterfly knife. The handles are skeletonized on the inside to keep weight down and also feature a great little removable pocket clip that doesn’t get in the way of flipping. These handles come in at around five and quarter inches long with the knife closed and nine and three quarters overall in the open position. This blade features an incredibly aggressive recurve tanto spear point made out of D2 tool steel.
A couple of extra things that set this bali apart from others in the game is the ball bearing pivot system that Brous designed specifically for the B3. These keep the arms fluid while maintaining zero play between the blade and the handles. The B3 also comes with a special 3 slot latch on the bottom with a ball detent. It locks in an open, fixed open, and closed setting, keeping the latch out of the way while flipping.
Overall the Brous B3 is a great balisong for any skill level but adds extra features an expert flipper will be sure to appreciate. You can click the annotation or the link in the description to learn more about this knife, and don't forget to check back every week for an all-new Spotlight Series. Thanks for watching from the KnifeCenter, serving the web community since 1995.
