This week on Spotlight Series we've got a couple of simple, sturdy Cold Steel folders that represent a pretty tremendous value. These two Pro-Lite knives are durable, functional, and best of all affordable - the perfect recipe for a rugged EDC.
The Andrew Demko design is beautifully simple, with a basic appearance and slim profile that belie the rugged overall build. Handle is two pieces of FRN which makes it light, sturdy, and impact resistant, with a shape that feels really secure in the hand thanks to the finger guard and wide jimping. It's a comfortable hold and there are no hotspots to speak of, good in either a forward or reverse grip.
One of the nice things about the Pro-Lite is that it's completely ambidextrous. The pocket clip is reversible for left or right side, tip-up carry, and the thumb stud can be adjusted for left-handed or right-handed use. Combine that with the lockback mechanism and the whole package is very lefty friendly after only a few minor adjustments.
Blade deployment is exactly what you expect from a Cold Steel folder, an authoritative and deliberate action . The blade on both models is 3.5" of 4116 German stainless steel, available in either a tanto or a clip point style. The Triad lockback mechanism that keeps the blade extended can be hard to disengage because it's one of the strongest locks on the market which enables very safe use of the knife.
Overall, the Cold Steel Pro-Lite's low price and stout build make it a great choice for just about any application, outdoor, tactical, or just basic everyday tasks. You can click the annotation or the link in the description to learn more about these knives, and don't forget to check back every week for an all new episode of Spotlight Series. Thanks for watching from the KnifeCenter, serving the web community since 1995.
