Ferrum Forge worked with high end Chinese manufacturer WE Knife Company to bring us the Pro Series, which includes knives like the Fortis 2.0 at a lower price point without sacrificing the elements that make them exceptional. Ferrum Forge’s original Fortis 2.0 Entry Level knife was an excellent way to get your hands on a mid-tech Ferrum Forge without shelling out the money you would have to pay for a full-on custom. It featured premium fit and finish with high quality materials that you would expect from Ferrum Forge, while also boasting an elegant design with excellent cutting performance. The problem was it still came with a relatively expensive price tag. You’re still getting premium materials such as the milled titanium handles in various styles and colors which feel great in the hand, an S35VN stainless steel drop point blade which offers excellent edge retention and slicing performance, and ceramic bearings for a responsive flipping action. If you don’t know what you’re looking for, you’re going to have a hard time telling the difference between an Entry Level Fortis 2.0 and a Pro Series Fortis 2.0.
The only significant difference you will see on the knife is in the lockbar design. It still follows the same unique Ferrum Forge aesthetic, but we find the lockbar on the Pro Series knives to be easier to move which makes it a cinch to close the knife compared to its Entry Level counterpart. The only real difference in their design is that you no longer have the Hoback Roller Detent. It’s been replaced with a ceramic detent, so it’s not a downgrade by any means and we can’t even tell the difference in terms of flipping action - which is nothing short of superb. It truly is a Ferrum Forge Fortis at half the price, and we are incredibly excited to be able to offer such a wonderfully constructed knife at an incredibly appealing price point.
