The new Slysz (Sss-lie-zzz) design from Spyderco is going to be a hit in and out of the kitchen: The Spydiechef is the first folding kitchen knife from Spyderco and it's fantastic!

The blade is a take on the Japanese Santoku style blade in a full flat grind. This blade shape is perfect for slicing, chopping, and rocking cuts. The handle is angled up from the blade to keep your knuckles off the cutting surface and are made from titanium for ease of maintenance.

The choice of blade steel was also geared to ease of maintenance as well as cutting performance in the kitchen. LC200N (Z-FiNit) is a *Fi*ne grain *Nit*rogen steel alloy that was used by NASA to replace 52100 in aerospace bearings. This steel is tough, takes a super fine edge, is easy to sharpen and, thanks to that Nitrogen, is super corrosion resistant.

While the SpydieChef is designed for use in the kitchen the design and materials also make it a great option for EDC. The Spydiechef has a very small footprint when closed (think Spyderco Delica), is lightweight (3.75 oz) thanks to the titanium construction, and carries via a steel wire clip (reversible, tip-up) that is secure and discrete.
