We flew 2,500 miles to the Pacific Northwest Custom Knife Invitational
in Seaside, Oregon; a one-day, six-hour show where the best custom
makers in the country bring one-of-one pieces you will not find in any
store, on any site, ever.
Here's the part most people don't know: you can't just walk up to a table and buy most of these knives.
You put your name on a sheet and hope. Some makers roll dice. Some tear a card in half and you have to match it. It's free to enter, and it's
still almost impossible to win.
We spent two days on the Oregon coast before the show and then walked into a room where a single folder was immediately sitting at $3,000 and climbing.
