Aaron Wilburn’s journey into knifemaking began in 2003 when he joined the American Bladesmith Society and started learning how to make Damascus from Corbin Newcomb. By 2009, Aaron Gained his Journeyman Bladesmith rank and has been working full time making knives since 2012. Just a year later, he was given the rating of Master Bladesmith and won the BR Hugh’s award for best knife submitted by a new Mastersmith. Not only is Aaron well versed in the art of knife making, he has also created a large portion of the equipment he uses. He takes pride in making all of his sheaths from start to finish that pair perfectly with his beautiful knives. With over 500 knives made and counting, Aaron knows what it take to make a high quality knife. Aaron’s favorite styles include culinary knives, bowies, and slip joint folders. Material preferences are 52100 and W2 for straight carbon; 52100, 1084, and 15N20 for damascus. Handle materials that top the list are Sambar Stag, Ivory, and Exotic Woods.
