Rediscovering Scrimshaw Knifemaking — WESN x P&Co. Media
Published: 2 weeks ago
Scrimshaw. An art form lost to time. This type of knife craft was popularized in the 18/1900s by sailors and men of the sea. Using what the ocean offered and any scraps on board their sailing vessel — these adventurers would carve their own artwork into knives they made by hand.
With our friends at P&Co, we set out to dive into the heritage of this knife style — and to rebuild, and recraft a version of it made for today.
Over the past year, we’ve been working on the Scrimshaw Henry Collection. Four unique knives imbued with maritime heritage, and modern grit.
