Beaver Hunting in Torne Valley – Tradition, Nature & Life in the North Media
Published: 5 hours ago
In Torne Valley, hunting is something more.
It is food for the table. Time spent in the forest. Knowing the rivers, wetlands and the changing seasons. It is about understanding that living from the land also means taking care of what remains.
You take what you need, knowing that there should be something left for next year. And the years after that.
This spring, we followed the local hunter Lars Munk through the forests and wetlands of the Arctic river valley during a beaver hunt. From his farm to the riverbank, with a Morakniv at his side and coffee brewed over the fire.
Beaver hunting in Sweden takes place between October 1 and May 15.
Filmed and edited by our talented friend Ola Krondahl.
