How to sharpen your wood carving knife Media
Published: 1 week ago
Follow along as our colleague Mikael shows how to quickly bring your carving knife back to life — sharp, smooth and ready for your next project.
Here’s how he does it:
Step 1 - Sharpening: He uses our Diamond Sharpener 26 Fine (600 grit) to restore the edge quickly and precisely.
Step 2 - Honing: Next, he uses a leather strop — homemade from a piece of wood and an old leather belt — to polish and refine the edge for that extra smooth finish.
Step 3 - Oiling: To finish, he applies a small amount of **paraffin oil** to protect the blade, especially important if you’re using carbon steel.
Remember: A sharp knife is a safe knife – it gives you more control and reduces the risk of slipping.
Watch the reel, take a few minutes to care for your tools, and enjoy your next carving session even more.
