Emerson MiniA100 USN logo Media
Published: 12 years ago
This knife was provided to me by Jay from EDC-Canada, it's an Emerson Mini A100, /20 with his EDC maple leaf logo etched onto the blade. He requested toxic green scales with a USN (knife forum) logo engraved onto the display side. The plan is to auction it off on the USN forum where all proceeds will go towards the keeping the forum running. I'm in!
Once I got the factory scales measured and designed in CAD I made a test pair and they turned out perfect, so those are the ones you see here. I sanded them smooth on a flat marble slab using 600 grit sandpaper and soapwater, they feel velvety smooth now. Then I anodized them and dyed them my toxic green color. While that was anodizing I took the pocket clip to my scotchbrite wheel and removed all the black paint and polished it up. Then I heat colored it with a propane torch for about 30 seconds. I added new stainless steel screws which I heat colored as well. After anodizing I put the scale back in my milling machine and using a 0.032" ball endmill I engraved the USN logo 0.001" deep. Just deep enough to scratch the surface. The end result is an amazing package that feels GREAT in the hand. I just told Jay that I need to get a mini A100 for myself!
I have to be clear, I cannot and will not engrave the USN logo onto anything that I SELL, only giveaway prizes and auctions. I respect that forum and never wanna be on their bad list.
