Knifemaking Tuesdays Week 09 - Testing button lock and making Ti handles Media

Published: 12 years ago

This week was a good one, lots of progress! I got to make a quick and dirty prototype to test out my button lock clearances and I learned a lot. Then I went ahead and made a second set of handles for my Norseman, but this time from Titanium! That's HUGE progress, I've been scared to machine titanium until I made that superman pendant a few weeks ago, and after that went very well I'm eager to make more things from it. Using the proper speeds and feeds according to my GWizard program, it cut just fine. Still lots of vibration and chatter in my setup, but those are things I can tweak down the road.

The clip at the end is my almost 2yr old daughter playing with the new Ti handles which have a dummy blade that I made in Week 01. She loves playing with my tools and parts!
