As the Demko Knives Knife-Heroes™ project continues, Andrew Demko sits down with Les Halpern from Halpern Titanium and TRM Knives. Les is perhaps the most unsung and influential player in the modern knifemaking industry. For decades, Les has been a pivotal USA-made parts maker and supplier for the knife industry. He even pioneered many of the materials and parts found in most knife company catalogs today.
Les not only designs and manufactures his own knives in Three Rivers, Massachusetts, but his workshop and factory has also produced many widely-recognizable knife models for other companies throughout the years.
Knife-Heroes™ is an ongoing Demko Knives program through which Andrew Demko highlights key members of the knifemaking industry -- people he deems true "Knife Heroes." These individuals have reached legendary knifemaker status, introduced game-changing design and engineering, or otherwise changed the knife industry forever. Through the Demko Knives Knife-Heroes™ program, Andrew's goal is to pay his respects to true legends of the knife industry. Andrew knows that these lifelong works and stories need to be preserved and passed down to the younger generations of knifemakers and knife collectors. Demko Knives will work alongside these industry heavyweights to create different collaboration projects in the years to come.
