Demko Knives is constantly pushing the envelope of design, engineering, and manufacturing. John and Andrew Demko explain Demko's Dynamic Grind process, which allows Demko Knives to produce blade shapes and blade grinds that are currently outside the boundaries of most other manufacturers. The Dynamic Grind uses precision machinery and technique to effectively "unlock" an additional axis in the grinding process.
While being ground, this process allows the blade to rotate, pivot, and turn in a combination of movements which result in purposeful variation in thickness along the length and width of a knife blade. The Dynamic Grind technique means that a single blade can be designed with separate regions on the blade for different types of tasks without a separate process or compound-style grind. The Dynamic Grind allows a blade's edge to be thicker and more robust in one region, while being thinner and more slicey in another region, combining different task-specific geometries and strengths based on the blade's intended use.
