Dan trying out the new light chopper prototype Media
Published: 8 years ago
This is a large woods knife designed for camp chores and clearing brush. At 16 ounces it is relatively light weight and falls somewhere between a chopper and a machete.
Its design and development has been a exercise in geometry and weight distribution optimization with the goal of a reasonably light camp knife that hits above its weight.
I sent a prototype to my friend, Dan Keffeler, for his input on tweaks before starting a run of these. This is Dan running a prototype through its paces. Dan has good technique and hits very hard.
We're planning a run of these by the end of the year. You can keep up with our progress on our facebook page here: https://www.facebook.com/CarothersKnives
