How To Remove A Broken Tap From Titanium Using Ferric Chloride Media

Published: 3 years ago

This video shows start to finish how to remove a broken tap from Titanium using Ferric Chloride. The Ferric Chloride does absolutely nothing to your Titanium part and will completely dissolve the steel Tap. Save your Part and save all the time, money and effort you have put into making it.

If you have ever broken a tap in a part you know the pain it can be to remove a broken tap. Especially when it is a very small 2/56 tap in Titanium. I thought I was going to have to throw out these knife handle slabs when I broke 3 taps off in them. Thankfully I found that Ferric Chloride can remove the tap without damaging the Titanium.

Ferric Chloride is very corrosive to any steel and most other metals. Be very careful and ensure you are using the proper safety equipment to protect your eyes and skin.

I hope this video will save you some time, headache, and money.

Thanks for watching!
