115V To 230V Motor Wiring - Should Not Be This Hard - I Smoked 2 Motors, Learn From My Mistakes Media

I tried to wire my Grizzly 5963 Surface Grinder motor from 115V to 230V and the instructions took me down the wrong road and I did not read the wiring diagram correctly. I smoked 2 of these brand new 3/4HP motors in the first 90 seconds before I figured out my error. Learn from my costly and time consuming wiring mistake.
These Permanent Split Capacitor (PSC) motors seem to be good quality, but the instructions say not to move any of the wires, which is only true if they put the wires in the correct place from the factory. Because there are jumpers, the wires can go in a couple of different places, and when you change to 230V you may have to move some wires to correct their location after moving the jumpers.
Grizzly customer service and warranty department was very helpful and accommodating through this process.
All wiring should be completed by a certified electrician and I am not a certified electrician. Use of this information and any wiring you complete should be done by or supervised by a certified electrician.
