New Spare Tire Rack On Trailer - Original Design Did Not Support The Weight Media

Published: 1 year ago

Customer needed the spare tire holder on his dump trailer replaced after the original completely broke off at the weld. I used 3/8" Plate for the mount, and 1.5" square tubing for the frame, then used my Lincoln 180C Welder to mount the new assembly. Overall the new design has 7 solid points of contact vs. only 1 with the original design.

I am not a professional welder, I do more machining than welding, so this video is meant for anyone looking for new ideas for their small welding jobs and home repair.

This welding was done with a Lincoln 180C Mig Welder using .035" Fluxcore Wire. Miller Auto Darkening Welding Helmet, Jet JMD 18 Mill Drill.
