FIND YOUR TRIBE! Media

I’m hardly a pro, and this is more joke than actual tip, but I will say there’s value in aiming your design squarely at yourself.
By being true to your own aesthetic and practical preferences, you’re going to make a knife that you like…and others don’t.
But - hear me out - that’s a good thing.
I’ve spent a lot of my life avoiding being polarizing. I don’t like being offensive or off-putting, so I try to see things from other perspectives and tread lightly in sensitive topics. There’s value to this and I don’t plan to majorly change this about myself any time soon, but I have learned there’s one REALLY good thing about being polarizing: BEING POLARIZING HELPS YOU FIND YOUR TRIBE!
In the same way, by choosing a definite design language and use case, you’re going to repel people who have a different design language or use case. That’s not just “acceptable”, it’s a sign that you’re on the right track!
Just make sure you keep getting your designs out there so that you can also attract the folks who dig your aesthetics and functionality. Believe me they’re out there. I mean people buy Spydercos, right?!?
