From a 2007 Sketch to a $4,000 Custom Knife Media

Published: 1 week ago

The Model 67 goes all the way back to 2007.

In this video, I dig out the original sketch and take a closer look at where my design language was at the time — including the Spyderco opening hole that appeared on many of my knives back then, used under license from Spyderco.

Rather than simply recreating the knife, I wanted to see what would happen if I approached the Model 67 again with everything I’ve learned since.

The goal was to keep the character of the original while bringing the design up to where my work is today.

I take it through the complete process: sketching, full 3D modeling in Fusion, and 3D printing to verify proportions, ergonomics and the overall feel before committing to production.

I originally gave myself three days for the redesign.

It took five.

And I started the whole process only about four weeks before our 25-year anniversary event, where the first finished knife will be presented.

The new Model 67 is a full custom knife, made by me here at ANSØ. Prices will start at $1,750, with more elaborate versions reaching $4,000+ depending on materials and details.

It will not be available to order. Model 67 customs will only appear occasionally through Shop Drops and Launch15.

If you want to dive deeper into the design process I use, from the first sketch through developing and refining a complete knife design, you can find my design course here:
